New York City Rocks Social Media Day 2012 with GZA/The Genius

Hundreds of guests turned out for Mashable's third-annual Social Media Day celebration in New York City on Saturday. The sold-out event was hosted at the Canal Room and featured networking, dancing and, most importantly, commemorating the importance of social media in the world today.

Mashable staff and fans were amped up with beats from DJ Choco and went crazy for special musical guest GZA/The Genius, of Wu Tang. GZA's son, Young Justice, joined his dad on stage for the second half of the performance.

Global sponsor Motorola Mobility hosted a photo booth (complete with funny social-signage) where attendees took pictures with friends. Images were projected live on a screen and printed for guests to take home. There were raffle drawings to win one of several Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX devices and complimentary martinis. Mashable is pleased that Social Media Day 2012 was presented by Motorola Mobility as its mission is to connect people around the world through innovative technologies. This is exactly what Social Media Day celebrates.

Overall, the event was poppin'. Did you party with us in NYC? Tell us what you thought in the comments.
