Doodle Party! Google Rings in 2013 in Style

Google has released its final Google Doodle of 2012 and its first of 2013 -- a before-and-after party picture.

The search giant is known for crafting exceptional New Year-centric logos, and this year's is no exception. In countries where it is still 2012, Google has a festive party logo, replete with characters from Google Doodles from throughout 2012.

For places where the clock has already turned to 2013, however, the Google logo shows the Google letters cleaning up after the party.

The one partygoer still in attendance: Rodin's "The Thinker." The world-famous sculpture can be seen at his desktop computer in both pictures.

Earlier this month, Google revealed its most popular Google Doodles of 2012.

1. 1. Soccer Doodle

   During the 2012 Summer Olympics, Google revealed an interactive soccer doodle, which put you as a goalie behind the net to ward off flying balls. By using the keyboard's left and right arrows to move side-to-side and the space bar to jump, the game became a hit online and was a welcomed distraction during the work day.

   No wonder it's the most popular Google Doodle of the year.

   

2. 2. Moog Doodle

   To celebrate Robert Moog's 78th birthday, Google presented an interactive, playable Moog synthesizer, which allowed you to record your own songs.

   

3. 3. Turing Doodle

   In June, Google celebrated mathematician and the father of computer science Alan Turing for what would have been his 100th birthday. Through the virtual version of the Turing Machine -- which helps explain how a CPU thinks in binary, such as 0s and 1s -- the doodle isn't easy to figure out. The goal of the game was to spell out "Google" in binary.

   

4. 4. Halloween Doodle

   This Halloween-inspired Google Doodle is completely interactive, allowing you to explore explore a haunted house by clicking on ghosts and monsters.

   

5. 5. Nemo Doodle

   This interactive Google Doodle celebrates Little Nemo, the main character in the comics strips of Winsor McCay, published in the New York Herald and the New York American from 1905 to 1914. The strip debuted on Oct. 15, 1905, and the Google Doodle was posted 107 years later to the exact date.

   

6. 6. Zipper Doodle

   In April, Google featured a giant zipper on its homepage, which allowed you to unzip the logo for search results for Gideon Sunback, the inventor of the zipper.

   Sundback was born on April 24, 1880 in Småland, Sweden; after he had finished his studies he moved to Germany, and in 1905 he emigrated to the U.S.

   

7. 7. Valentine's Day Doodle

   The 71-second Valentine's Day animation on Google's homepage told the story of a boy's attempt to win over a girl. He turns to Google Search for tips and eventually accomplishes the feat.

   The animation also shows all types of love, including what appears to be a same-sex couple.

   

8. 8. Archery Doodle

   The archery doodle was featured on July 28, 2012, and was one of the main to celebrate the Summer Olympic Games.

10. 10. Faberge Doodle

    Google honored in May a famous Russian jeweler named Peter Carl Fabergé, who is best known for his decorative, ornate Fabergé eggs.

    Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Fabergé inherited the family jeweler business from his father, Gustav Fabergé.

    The House of Fabergé created thousands of bejeweled eggs 1885 to 1917, made in the style of Easter eggs, using precious metals and gemstones.
