   "My father passed away exactly one year ago, shortly before his 102nd birthday. He is in many ways special to me, too many to mention all; the most important here. He was a highly interested person, tolerant and openminded, clear, bright and brave in his arguments; he was gifted with many talents. He, as a father, was a motivator and not an punisher. He was able to see himself with a good portion of humour, he could laugh about himself.

   He was a good listener, interested in other opinions and experiences. On the other hand he was always able to express his clear position and point of view, he was ready to discuss and to argue brilliantly. He was a political, thinking man, very concerned; he had high ethical values and was deeply respectful. He was interested in all aspects of cultural affairs and in the arts. He was a good musician (a flutist) and an excellent painter and his drawings are of a good and high quality. I'm lucky and i feel blessed to have (had) him as my father.

   The photograph was taken on a trip we made together; he wanted to see the northern Italian region I like the most. It was a journey mixed with good, inspiring discussions, excellent food and some good photographs and sketches... and there was this moment when I made this portrait of my father."
