Fans Cry as Lea Michele Tears Up About Cory Monteith at 'Teen Choice'

A teary-eyed Lea Michele won Choice TV Comedy Actress at Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards, dedicating the honor to her boyfriend and Glee castmate Cory Monteith, who fatally overdosed on a mix of heroin and alcohol on July 13 in a Vancouver hotel.

"He was very special to me and also to the world and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart," Michele said in the 65-second speech during which she occasionally raised her hands to her heart.

"So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts, and that's where he'll stay forever.

"So thank you guys so much. Thank you."

Just like when Michele addressed Monteith's death for the first time on social media on July 29, fans once again expressed their sadness on Twitter, with some Teen Choice viewers admitting they cried during Michele's televised speech.

Here's a transcript of Michele's full Teen Choice Awards acceptance speech:

"I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much all of your love and support has meant to me over these past difficult few weeks. Not that I had any doubt before, but you guys are most certainly the greatest fans in the world. And I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory for all of you who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that with your love, we're going to get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts, and that's where he'll stay forever. So thank you guys so much. Thank you."

Michele, other Glee stars, crew members and producers gathered July 26 at a private memorial — organized by the Fox show's creator, Ryan Murphy — to remember Monteith.

Monteith, the 31-year-old actor best known for his role as Finn Hudson on Glee, was found dead on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in downtown Vancouver. After an autopsy was conducted, the BC Coroners Service revealed Monteith's cause of death, saying in a YouTube video that he died as the result of "a mixed drug toxicity, and it involved heroin, primarily, and also alcohol."
