Brad Pitt's zombie-apocalypse flick, World War Z, hit theaters over the weekend, giving antsy moviegoers around the country a first look at Hollywood's latest undead undertaking.
At time of writing, the film had raked in upward of $66 million domestically (roughly $110 million worldwide) and had notched a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer. Per the review-aggregating site, 86% of audience members enjoyed the movie, landing it an average rating of 4.3/5. Of course, many critics professional, armchair and otherwise also turned to social media platforms to make their voices heard.
Twitter and Google+ were a mix of earnest reviews and 140-character jokes.
@TommyWee My review of World War Z: Brad Pitt does not allow any other good looking guy in a movie he produces

This is why I hate Hollywood - the original ending for WWZ was FAR SUPERIOR to the predictable crap they went with. http://t.co/eR1QTKx7GY

Let's just count going to see World War Z & having no idea it's a zombie movie until 10mins in as one of the dumbest thing I've ever done

#WorldWarZ Has Made Enough Money to Get Itself a Sequel. Please, God, No. http://t.co/78Sf9MWxuw

World War Z was a very thoughtful movie. More from intriguing the mind with possibilities than with the gore of Zombies. I recommend it!

World War Z good not great. Not very gory. If that's PG-13, The Walking Dead would be NC-17. Thanks for everyone's input.

"I'm not gonna ask him to cut his hair! You ask him!" Overheard conversation btw director and producer during "World War Z" rehearsals.

Just saw World War Z. If zombies are attracted to loud noises, we should probably preemptively quarantine Stephen A. Smith.

WORLD WAR Z breaks out with $66M debut. Huge win for Paramount considering the year of bad press the film generated. Pitt's biggest debut.

World War Z is a movie about millions of children from Africa trying to get Brad Pitt to adopt them.

World War Z was mind blowing and made me pee my pants twice!! Haha going to buy a gun tomorrow.. Can never be too careful! #crazy

my favorite part about the World War Z movie is that all the people who like World War Z are not around for a couple hours

The biggest question about WORLD WAR Z is what the hell in the marketing convinced anybody to see it.

The zombies in World War Z were so good at tackling and pouncing that I actually screamed Touchdown in the theater.

Upside of getting the World War Z virus: GREAT cardio workout.

Will I understand World War Z if I haven't seen World War A through Y?

Damn world war Z was sick. Kinda reminded me of I am legend except with Brad Pitt and he had friends.

'World War Z' is the most pro-Israel movie ever made. Or at the very least the most pro-Israel zombie movie ever made.

Thought process during World War Z: This is stressful. Ugh Brad Pitt's scarf. Is that Anne Hathaway in les miz? Damn it. Good movie.

Saw World War Z. It is NOT about zebra fights.

The look of fear on Brad Pitt's face in World War Z is from his growing realization that the entire narrative strategy of the film is flawed

Facebook offered more detailed explanations and, in some cases, rants.
Per usual, YouTube served as land of the parodies.
