Halifax has launched its first cross-platform mobile banking app.
Available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, the app has already reached the number one spot in the free finance category in the iTunes App Store after being made available just 72 hours ago.
Built by mobile developers Grapple, the app enables customers to access their money and manage their accounts.
The app will also include the ability to view account details and balances on Halifax personal accounts, savings accounts and credit cards, plus check balances, see transaction history, make transfers, pay bills or existing recipients and set up new recipients.
Forrester's 2011 State of Mobile Banking in EU report says that 18% of consumers now use mobile banking within Europe, compared with only 13% in 2010.
This growth is predicted to increase dramatically next year, providing customer experience is put first.
Grapple says that the Halifax app does just this, by not only allowing internet banking customers to log on to accounts and make transactions on the go, ut allowing customers to find their nearest Halifax branch, Halifax ATM, or any of the 72,000 LINK ATMs. This search functionality is also one of the key aspects of Lloyds TSB's app.
David Nicholson, group director for Halifax Community Bank says that the launch of this app will ensure customers can manage their money when they need to and allow them to control their money quickly and easily.
This is another example of Halifax delivering new and innovative ways to support our customers, ensuring advancements in technology can be used to improve our customers' experience."
