The Mashable Meme Machine is a daily look at five hilarious viral topics spreading across the web right now.
I hope you all had a relaxing weekend, because we're back with a bunch of Internet weirdness! This, folks, is the Meme Machine, and it definitely never gets the day off.
This weekend was full of ups and downs: Bronies celebrated, and football jocks mourned. Some paid homage to Steve Jobs in dog form, while others insisted on rehashing Lana Del Rey. You see, folks, the Internet moves in cycles, both light and dark awful and awesome.
Luckily, we try to keep it as awesome as possible, so enjoy your Monday munchies and get to snacking on some sweet comedy goodness.

This variation of the popular 2011 meme "Yes, This is Dog" features a Husky looking an awful lot like the late, great Steve Jobs. Its origins are dubious at best, but the image of the canine staring icily into the camera while wearing the innovator's signature turtleneck has blown up all over the Internet.
Yes, that is Steve Dogs.
The most unlikely of miracles occurred in the land of the Bronies this past weekend, when a beloved fan character finally made it to the big time -- an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In the series' pilot episode, a pony was shown in the background, staring cross-eyed with a goofy grin on her face. Bronies immediately jumped on the funny looking pony and named her "Derpy Hooves," and a movement to make her canon was born.
Well, this weekend, Hasbro granted their wish. Derpy Hooves made her first canonical (and speaking) appearance in the beginning scene of "The Last Roundup," where she made a horrible mess of Ponyville's town hall. And that is when the entire brony universe exploded.
Yesterday was full of nail-biter games, and neither NFL match-ups disappointed. Unfortunately, San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was disappointed, and ended up spinning himself into meme history. Cameras got a glimpse of Harbaugh spinning in anguish, reacting to a game-ending fumble during a punt. The sentiment echoed throughout Twitter as the team's Super Bowl dreams were promptly crushed by the New York Giants.
Don't worry, Jimmy, there's always next year. In the meantime, enjoy your Internet fame!
Lana Del Rey has been a perplexing Internet phenomenon since August, when her video and only single "Video Games" ended up on YouTube. The pouty, throaty singer was flayed by some for her "fake" appearance and minimal talent, but defended by others as a respectable (and buzzworthy) musician. Just when her controversy began waning, it picked up again when she effectively bombed her performance on SNL.
Love her or hate her, she's so meme-worthy it's hard to resist. People with Lana Del Rey Lips captures it perfectly: Chuck Norris with pillowy lips? What about the president? Does it look creepy to you, too? I hope so.
Today, Redditors have uncovered a (maybe not so) shocking truth about our sitcom royalty: How I Met Your Mother is a lot like Friends. Mapped out like an extensive conspiracy theory, this post by Imgur user Kath.Kelvie shows some compelling (Ted/Robin vs. Ross/Rachel) and less strong (they both take place in NYC...obviously) reasoning of how the two are so similar. Reddit jumped on the idea, and the post received more than 2,000 upvotes in less than half a day.
It's the Grassy Knoll Theory for the One-Camera Comedy set!
