HTC One Is Heading to Verizon

The HTC One is heading to Verizon, the carrier confirmed in a tweet Monday. The flagship Android smartphone is expected to arrive at Big Red later this summer.

Last week, Sundar Pichai, senior vice-president of Google's Chrome and Apps division, announced that a Google edition of the HTC One is heading to Google Play later this month. It will run pure Android, without the addition of any software by HTC.

The HTC One is already available on AT&T and Sprint, and will be released on T-Mobile later this week.

1. HTC One

   The HTC One is the company's latest flagship smartphone. Coming to AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, it has several novel features -- including a Flipboard-like feed that doubles as a home screen, a rethought camera and an interesting way to share experiences -- that make it stand out from other Android phones.

   

2. Aluminum Backside

   The HTC One has an aluminum unibody exterior, giving it a solid, high-end feel.

   

3. The Home Screen, Rethought

   The HTC One boots into a customizable feed, called BlinkFeed, of social networks, apps and publications by default.

   

4. App Array

   Traditional app screens are still a tap or a swipe away from BlinkFeed.

   The top of the phone includes the headphone jack and the power button, which doubles as an infrared blaster for the built-in remote app.

   

6. Tapered Design

   The One is 0.37 inch thick at its thickest point, but the back has a slight curve, making it thinner on the edges.

   The HTC One's default home screen is BlinkFeed, a feed that contains updates from your social networks as well as apps and publications that you want. It's pretty effective of easy browsing of "snack-size" content.

   Here's what BlinkFeed looks like before you set it up. BlinkFeed can't be deleted, but if you don't want to see it, you can designate a different screen as the default for home.

    BlinkFeed lets you customize which apps, networks, and publications that go in it. Right now, publications need to partner with HTC to be included, and there's no way to include a normal RSS feed.

13. Zoe

    The HTC One will automatically create a compilation slideshow video of events you capture with the camera, called a Zoe. That's what the big photo on top of this even represents. Zoes are remarkably good at capturing the flavor of an event.

    The HTC One's can work as your TV remote. It uses a visual guide to the content that's available to you, although it also includes a traditional guide.

    You program the remote app just as you would a universal remote, but setup is easier since the phone can download remote profiles on the fly.
