UPDATE: A Chipotle rep responded to our request for comment about the bizarre tweets with an equally bizarre statement by email: "I'm glad no one went Anthony Weiner on us, but everything seems to be fine." The company has yet to state definitively whether its Twitter account was hacked or not.
Chipotle's primary Twitter account unleashed a series of strange tweets Sunday afternoon, which read more like someone trying to talk to Siri than a social-media account manager posting on behalf of a major brand.
It's unclear whether the account has been hacked, or if someone at Chipotle is just suffering from a little too much heat exhaustion (probably the former). We reached out to Twitter and Chipotle's press office, and will update the post when we hear back.
Several big brand accounts have been compromised this year on Twitter, including the AP, Burger King and The Onion. The social network recently implemented two-factor authorization in an effort to crack down on this problem.
Chipotle's tweets left an odd taste in the mouths of some people on Twitter:
So, the person who does the @ChipotleTweets account is staying at their parents' place this weekend, and is showing them Twitter?

Based on the last few updates from @ChipotleTweets I can't tell if the account has been hacked or an intern is on social media duty today.

i think whoever is manning @ChipotleTweets has mistaken twitter for google

UPDATE: Chipotle's account is now tweeting that things are back to normal, though no explanation has been provided and all of the original tweets are still up. We're still waiting to hear back from Chipotle directly and will continue to update the post as we learn more.
Sorry all. We had a little problem with our account. But everything is back on track now! - Joe

UPDATE: Chipotle noted on its Facebook page that it is "aware" of the activity on its Twitter account and "looking into it."
