Google began its St Patrick's celebrations in 2000 with a green logo sporting a jaunty leprechaun's hat.
The following year a pot of gold magically appeared next to the logo.
A simple shamrock replaced an "O" in 2002's design.
2004 saw the logo get a Celtic makeover.
Google went for the hat-and-shamrocks double whammy in 2005.
The next year saw more shamrocks adorning the logo.
Google kept its traditional colors in 2007, swapping out the second "G" for yet another three-leaved clover.
The following year brought even more shamrock action.
2009's design was created by the Irish Doodle 4 Google winner Evan O'Sullivan Glynn.
There was more Celtic design in 2010.
Perhaps shamrocked out, Google went all artistic in 2011 with graceful swans and some red clover foliage.
Inspired by Celtic manuscripts, this year's Doodle is delightfully intricate.
