Country crooner Brad Paisley's performance of "Beat This Summer" with singer John Mayer during the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 7 will feature a light show powered by fans' smartphones, Sony Music Nashville told Mashable.
People in the live audience will have the Brad Paisley Light Show app (for either iPhone or Android) installed, which during the performance will sync the phones' screens to create a dazzling, flashing spectacle.
This is the first time Paisley will use the app, but he will employ it on his summer tour.

"We are going to do some really cool things throughout the tour with this app," Brian Kaplan, digital marketing manager at Sony Music Nashville, told us.
The 48th ACM Awards will air live Sunday on CBS starting at 8 p.m. from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but Paisley's performance will air remotely during the show from the Orleans Arena as part of the 3rd ACM Fan Jam featuring Mayer, Dierks Bentley and Hunter Hayes.
Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan will co-host while other performers include Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Kelly Clarkson, Jewel, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Stevie Wonder, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Pistol Annies and The Band Perry.
"Beat This Summer" is the second single from Paisley's ninth studio album, Wheelhouse, which arrives April 9. Wham City Lights powers Paisley's light app, demonstrated here:
