Apple Users Sent 7 Million iOS 7 Tweets in Two Days

If it feels like your entire Twitter feed is tweeting about the new iPhone and iPad operating system, iOS 7, you're not alone.

More than 7 million tweets about iOS 7 were sent in the 24 hours before and after the launch of the OS. That's according to Crimson Hexagon, a social media analysis firm. The precise number: 7,364,005.

The volume of iOS 7 tweets peaked at 8pm ET Wednesday night. In other words, once both east and west coast users had clocked off work, they had time to update the world on the progress of their updates.

That's when iOS 7 tweets reached the 500,000 per hour mark — about the same level as royal baby tweets when the Duchess of Cambridge went into labor.

The tenor of the tweets was more positive than negative. Some 27% of the tweets reported a good experience with the download, or the OS itself. The frustrated or disapproving tweets averaged 22%, but negative sentiment appears to be increasing steadily over time.

Meanwhile over on Instagram, there were more than 500,000 images tagged #iOS7 by late Wednesday.

What's your experience? Android and Windows Phone users: are you sick of iOS 7 tweets yet? Let us know in the comments.
