Neil Patrick Harris kicked off the 65th Annual Emmy Awards with a monologue about how modern technology is influencing the way we watch TV, but it was interrupted by Jimmy Kimmel. And Jimmy Fallon.
Oh, Conan O'Brien, Jane Lynch, Kevin Spacey, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler too.
Harris was joined on stage by a whole slew of previous Emmy hosts, but it was Tina Fey and Amy Poehler who stole the opening scene. They heckled him in the first row while wearing 3D glasses and eating popcorn, encouraging the How I Met Your Mother star to "twerk it" and "take your pants off."
Harris' opening monologue called attention to how younger audiences are watching TV in new ways.
"The content has never been more varied," Harris said. "The viewing has never been more easier. You can watch TV on your TV on your laptop, on your mobile device, on your watch. You can watch on the Google Glass. I'm actually watching an episode of American Horror Story Asylum on my contact lenses."
The term "selfie" also got a shout out this time by Conan O'Brien, who called the other hosts "a bunch of amateurs" who just want to take "selfies with the guys from Duck Dynasty."
Harris noted 30 million people were watching the show around the world, while 17 cameras, 20 musicians and 200 crew members were helping live back stage at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Harris has taken home four Emmys in the past three of which he earned for hosting the Tony Awards host and the other for a guest appearance on Glee. He has also been nominated for his role as Barney Stinson on CBS's How I Met Your Mother.
Harris is no stranger to playing host he was the face of the Primetime Creative Arts Emmys in 2008, the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards in 2009, and the 63rd, 65th, 66th and 67th Tony Awards.
