Apple released iOS 7 Wednesday, and debuted a huge visual overhaul along with it. Heavily textured backgrounds and dark colors are out, while soft gradients, thin sans-serif fonts and bright, bold hues are in.
After looking at apps designed for iOS 6, Apple's latest operating system immediately seems out of place. Fortunately, many developers spent the better part of the summer preparing their apps to look at home on iOS 7. We've already covered offerings from some of the big names including Twitter, Facebook, eBay and Pandora but that's just scratching the surface of what iOS 7-friendly apps are available to users.
We toiled through the many iOS 7 updates released over the past few days, and whittled them down to a list of 20 apps we think really capture the look and feel of Apple's new OS.
Many of these apps are old favorites, including Camera+, Twitterrific, Instapaper and Hipstamatic. Some might be new to you, such as About.me, Perfect Weather, Mail Pilot and Camera Noir, while other apps including Starwood's SPG app and the latest version of Clear are iOS 7 only.
A few developers, such as Reeder 2 and TiltShiftGen2, saw the release of iOS 7 as an opportunity to launch a brand-new version of an app. Others, such as Pocket Casts, Instacast and PCalc, took the tried-and-true update approach.
A quick comment: Tons of note-taking apps, including Drafts, Scratch and Byword all updated to include iOS 7-friendly designs. Although these apps aren't on our list, they're still worth checking out for any serious note-obsessed fiend.
