Black Keys Drummer Thrashes Justin Bieber on Twitter

Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney is holding his own against an angry mob of Beliebers by, what else? Changing his Twitter name to Justin Bieber and mocking the pop idol mercilessly.

And while Biebers' fans are outraged by the social networking prank (outraged is the understatement of the century in this case), the non-Beliebers have found the hilarity in the all-out Twitter feud.

The rivalry began when a reporter asked Carney — a three-time Grammy winner — about Bieber's award snub.

Carney responded, "He's rich, right? Grammys are for music, not for money. He's making a lot of money. He should be happy, I guess."

Bieber quickly took to Twitter (what else do pop stars do?) responding to the drummer's thoughts with this:

Within hours, Bieber's army of fans (34.6 million strong on Twitter alone) began relentlessly cyberbulling the drummer — we guess they didn't consider Bieber's subtle "haha."

Carney initially seemed upset by the media attention his off-the-cuff comment was stirring up and tweeted this:

Then Carney began retweeting many of the mean comments with simple sad faces, taking the taunts in stride:

But looks like The Black Keys had a breaking point, because before long Carney was zinging snarky insults right back to his new haters.

And when Carney realized that the Beliebers weren't backing off, he figured if he couldn't beat 'em he would just join 'em. In the most troll-ific moment to ever occur, he transformed his Twitter profile into a Bieber account, complete with pic of the Biebs in hipster, black-rimmed glasses much like the drummer's own pair, and a profile description reading "a official twitter for the actual verified Justin Bieber DOS virtual buddy."

His impressions were dead on, to say the least.

During the time Carney spent as Bieber, he cycled through several Twitter aliases including "Justin Bieber Carney," "Pustin Bieber Carney" and "Patin Bieber Carney."

But by Sunday evening, Carney had enough of the swag and un-Bieberized his Twitter account. And while Bieber has yet to respond to the feud or his rabid pack of fans, Carney's tweets were more than enough to keep us entertained.

Carney even managed to coin the new best phrase of 2013 — Swag out loud.
