Breaking Bad returns to AMC this Sunday at 9 p.m. EST, capping off its final season with eight episodes that will probably be best-watched with a glass of wine or calming herbal tea. We're nervous just thinking about how the show's going to end.
Walt and Jesse's misadventures have undoubtedly caused viewers to experience several near or full-fledged panic attacks. Here's a look back at some of the most shocking moments in Breaking Bad's four-and-a-half-season history:
Season 1, Episode 2: "Cat's in the Bag"

After killing gang member Emilio with phosphine gas in his and Jesse's RV, Walt needs to figure out a way to dispose of the body. Krazy 8, another gang member, survives the RV gas-trap attack, so Walt and Jesse flip a coin to determine which person is tasked with killing him, and which person is responsible for destroying the evidence of Emilio's murder. Jesse thinks he's chosen the more savory option, but quickly discovers that getting rid of a body is labor-intensive and grotesque. If this episode taught us anything, it's that you should do your dirty work in the basement.
Season 2, Episode 7: "Negro y Azul"

Hank is thrilled to get a promotion and location transfer to El Paso, Tex. after he kills gang leader Tuco. Soon after he arrives in Texas, Hank sees criminal informant Tortuga's head strapped to a tortoise shell with the words "Hola DEA" written across it. The DEA agent then has a panic attack that lets everyone know he might not be cut out for the big leagues.
Season 1, Episode 6: "Crazy Handful of Nothing"

Feeling cheated after Tuco refuses to pay for his product upfront, Walt decides that intimidation is his best approach to the situation. He tries to sell the kingpin a product that resembles meth, but is in fact an explosive called mercury fulminate. Walt then reveals the product's true nature by blowing up Tuco's amphetamine headquarters, making a name for his alter ego "Heisenberg" in the process.
Season 2, Episode 12: "Phoenix"

Poor Jesse. It seems like Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan just doesn't want the show's most sympathetic character to be happy. Jesse and his girlfriend Jane plan to run away together, along with the money he made from dealing meth, and get clean — as soon as they finish off the rest of their stash, of course. After a night of heavy heroin use, Jesse wakes up to find Jane dead.
Season 3, Episode 7: "One Minute"

Hank receives an anonymous call telling him that in one minute, the cold-blooded Salamanca cousins will arrive to kill him. Hank demonstrates his self-defense skills by injuring Leonel and killing Marco after taking a few bullets himself.
Season 4, Episode 13: "Face Off"

In the last episode of season four, Walt exploits Hector Salamanca's hatred for Gus Fring in order to finally murder the Los Pollos manager and criminal mastermind. Although killing Gus costs Hector his life in a gruesome explosion, he believes the sacrifice to be well worth it. And Walt's certainly not too torn up about either loss.

When Brock, the son of Jesse's new girlfriend Andrea, is sent to the emergency room, Jesse assumes Walt is responsible for his illness, but Walt points the finger at Gus. Later, when doctors discover that the cause of the illness was poison from a Lily of the Valley, the audience learns that Walt was behind the scheme, after all.
Season 5, Episode 8: "Gliding Over All"

Hank picks up Walt's bathroom copy of Leaves of Grass for some light toilet reading. He begins with the first page, and finds a note from Gale — Walt's former assistant meth cook — and recognizes the handwriting immediately from the hours he's spent studying Gale's lab notes. Hank is stunned by the possibility that his brother-in-law is the "W.W." behind the huge drug case he's been working on.
