The 15 Best Candy Heart Rejects

Sweethearts — better known to the rest of us as tiny, heart-shaped candies made from processed sugar and some other magical ingredient that renders them indestructible — have come to define Feb. 14th. From children to adults, what better way to express your love than with a mini periwinkle-colored heart proclaiming "Be Mine?"

But those classic phrases were the result of years of brainstorming, experimenting and toying with the most romantic combinations of words.

This Valentine's Day, Twitter imagines all the unsuccessful and lost candy hearts of generations past with the popular hashtag #candyheartrejects.
