Man Seeks Roommate Through Brilliant YouTube Song

What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and move in with me?

Jonathan Mann of Brooklyn, N.Y., needs a roommate. But rather than the usual post-the-room-to-Craiglist technique, he composed a song and uploaded it to YouTube instead.

In the video, he shows off — err, sings off — his Williamsburg apartment and its many amenities: a 7-minute commute the Bedford Ave. "L" train, an assortment of video games and a tastefully placed exposed brick wall. He goes old-school too, by referencing Better Than Ezra's "Good" towards the end of the song.

In December, we reported on Mann and his then-girlfriend, Ivory, splitting up via another video — which might explain the now-vacant room.

In any case, here's to hoping he finds someone worthy of that Xbox 360 and convenient walk to Bedford.

1. 1. 'Look At Me Now' -- Paul Vlahos

   Paul Vlahos, a Sacramento, Calif.-based voice actor, gives spot-on impersonations of the Family Guy cast while rapping Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now."

   Peter, Cleveland, Joe, Herbert and, yes, even Stewie drop verses. There are a few FG references thrown into the mix, too. It's nothing short of a spectacle.

2. 2. 'Get Low' -- Dan Henig

   There's nothing that a fresh cappuccino and Lil' Jon sonnet can't cure.

   Like 3-6-9, musician Dan Henig surprised a quiet group of coffee shop customers with an acoustic version of Lil' Jon and the East Side Boyz's "Get Low," bringing them out of their caffeinated daze and over to both the windows and walls.

3. 3. 'Hey Ya' -- Obadiah Parker

   OK, not technically a "rap" song, but still a cool cover.

   Mat Weddle, from Scottsdale, Ariz.-based folk band Obadiah Parker, gives a soothing rendition of Outkast's 2003 classic.

4. 4. 'Look At Me Now' -- Karmin

   Pop duo (and real life sweethearts) Karmin has the Chris Brown fever, too. Watch this impressive cover of "Look At Me Now" (sans the Family Guy cast.)

5. 5. 'B*tches Ain't Sh*t' -- Ben Folds feat. Bob Saget

   Ben Folds' classic cover of Dr. Dre's "B*tches Ain't Sh*t." Everyone's favorite '90s TV dad, Bob Saget, makes a surprise appearance during the second verse.

6. 6. 'Lose Yourself' -- Taylor Swift

   You had us at "yo."

7. 7. 'Ghetto Gospel' -- The Funky Fresh Sr Choir

   "Come over here, kids, and let grandma sing you a song about that time the cops tried to catch her riding dirty."

   Probably one of the best things ever. This gospel choir, made up of predominately elderly men and women, tries their well-intentioned hands at five rap covers: Eminem's "Lose Yourself," Chamillionaire's "Riding Dirty," Outkast's "Hey Ya," Pussy Cat Dolls' "Don't Cha" and Nelly's "Hot in Here."

   Two words: Nailed it.

8. 8. 'Move B*tch' -- GANknowtheygotem

   YouTube user GANknowtheygotem looks shyly into the camera, and says, "So .. this is my first ukulele video I'm putting on YouTube."

   There are a few seconds of modest silence, followed by: "Hope you enjoy it."

   Unexpected awesomeness ensues.

9. 9. 'Tha Carter 3' -- Jordan DeLisser

   Piano extraordinaire Jordan DeLisser performs a medley of Lil' Wayne's "Tha Carter 3" in its entirety. Awesome with a capital "A."

10. 10. 'Still Fly' -- The Devil Wears Prada

    Gator boots, a pimped out Gucci suit and five skinny punk kids. It's a combo made in heaven.

    This version of Big Tymer's "Still Fly," performed by metal band The Devil Wears Prada, appears on Fearless Records' "Punk Goes Crunk" album.

11. 11. 'Love The Way You Lie' -- Fate of the Hopeless

    Why say something when you can scream it instead?

    Metal band Fate of the Hopeless drops a grungy, yet strangely melodic cover of Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie."

12. 12. 'Slow Jamz' -- Jef Kearns and DJ Sean Sax

    Paging Ron Burgundy.

    Jef Kearns and DJ Sean Sax add some jazz flute "smooth" to Kanye West's already groovy "Slow Jamz."

13. 13. 'Candy Shop' -- Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band

    "So seductive."

    This finger-snapping cover, made famous by Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band in the final scene of 2009's The Hangover, makes 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" sound like an innocent jazz jam. Until you listen to the lyrics.

    T.S. Miller drops this epic cover of Will Smith's "Men in Black" by looping the guitar riff and drums, then singing -- while adding in a few guitar solos on top -- the whole thing.

15. BONUS: 'Hot Cheetos & Takis' -- Y.N. Rich Kids

    It's not a cover, but definitely worth referencing.

    Y.N. RichKids is part of a Minneapolis after school program called Beats and Rhymes that helps kids experiment with music. They released this video about snacking back in April.
